When Do I Need a Sewer Camera Inspection?

Sewer camera inspections can be performed when there is an evident problem, but they are also great ways at preventing problems. Being able to accurately view the condition of your sewer line helps to prepare for potential issues and avoid emergency backups by being proactive.

Some common reasons to perform a sewer camera inspection include:

Roots – Roots grow towards moisture and the nutrients found in sewer lines. They can easily find their way in through small seams in clay, breaks in cast iron, and continue growing once inside the pipe. Tree roots are damaging to the sewer line if left alone and will cause frequent backups as well as eventually break the pipe beyond repair. Sewer camera inspections allow us to determine the level of roots and offer repair options such as hydro jetting.

Before the Rains – Southern California does not get much rain, but most properties still have landscaping and area drains to handle storm waters and irrigation runoff. Since area drains are exposed, they get clogged easily with dirt, rocks, and debris. The only way to determine if the line is clear before rains come is by viewing with a camera inspection. If the line is clogged, and storms come, the line could overflow and cause floods to homes and businesses.
