Most people building or remodeling a bathroom are focused on the tile, the fixtures, the finished look. And that makes sense - that's the part you actually see. But the work that really determines whether your bathroom functions the way it should? It all happens underground and inside the walls, long before a single tile goes up.

This is the DWV rough-in for a bathroom build - drain, waste, and vent piping laid out and connected before the concrete goes back down and the walls close up. We broke through the slab, got into the soil below, and ran the drain lines exactly where they need to be. The toilet flange, the shower drain stub-out, the trap arms - every connection positioned and pitched correctly from the start.

Getting the slope right on drain lines is one of those things that sounds simple but has a real impact. Too little pitch and waste sits in the pipe. Too much and you get the same problem from a different direction - the water races ahead and leaves solids behind. We dial it in so everything moves the way it should, every time you flush or drain.

The vent side of the system matters just as much. Proper venting keeps drain traps from getting siphoned dry, which is what stops sewer gases from backing up into your home. You can see the vent stack rising up through the framing, tied into the drain network below. It's all one system, and it only works well when every piece of it is done correctly.

Solid rough-in work is the difference between a bathroom that drains quietly and reliably for decades and one that causes slow drains, odors, or backed-up lines a few years down the road. We do this work on new builds, additions, and full bathroom remodels - including breaking up existing slabs and replacing or rerouting old sewer pipe when needed.
