A failing tub or shower valve is one of those problems that starts small and gets messy fast. Temperature control goes out, water starts leaking behind the wall, and before long you're dealing with damage you can't see. That's exactly what we were up against here in West Covina - a broken Mixet tub shower valve that had to come out.
We opened the wall to get full access to the valve body and the copper supply lines behind it. Mixet valves are an older design, and when they go, they really go. The existing setup had to be fully removed and the supply connections prepped for the new valve. It's detail work - the kind where cutting corners causes problems down the road.
Once the new valve was seated and the connections were solid, we moved to the trim side. The finish install is where the job either looks professional or it doesn't. We went with a clean Moen single-handle setup - tight to the tile, properly centered, no gaps.
What you end up with is a fully functional shower valve that controls water temperature the way it should, with no leaks behind the wall and a finished look that holds up. That's the goal on every job - not just fixing the problem, but leaving it better than we found it. Water leak detection and repairs like this are part of what we do every day.
If your tub or shower valve is giving you trouble - whether it's leaking, running cold, or just not responding right - it's worth getting it looked at before it turns into a bigger repair.
