Pinhole leaks in copper water service lines are sneaky. They start small - sometimes just a tiny hole you could barely fit a pencil tip into - but they don't stay small. Left alone, that slow drip erodes the surrounding pipe, saturates the soil, and shows up on your water bill before you ever notice a wet spot in your yard.

That's exactly what we were dealing with here in Whittier. The existing copper line had corroded badly at the elbow, and you could see the kind of pitting and oxidation that builds up over years of being buried underground. The pipe had reached the point where a patch wasn't going to cut it. It needed to be properly addressed at the source.

We dug down to get full access to the service line, pumped out the standing water that had pooled in the meter box area, and got to work cutting out the damaged section. Fresh copper fittings, properly sweated and fitted - that's what this line needed. No shortcuts.

Here's the thing about water service line work: the signs are easy to miss or explain away. A slightly soggy patch of lawn. Water pressure that feels a little off. A utility bill that's crept up without explanation. Any one of those could point to a leak underground that's been going on longer than you'd think.

If something feels off with your water at home, it's worth having your service line looked at before a small problem becomes a much bigger one.
