A freestanding tub is one of those upgrades that looks simple on the surface. Clean lines, no surround, just the tub sitting on the floor. But what most people don't realize is that everything has to be right underneath before any of that clean look is possible.

Here's what we were working with - a floor drain that needed to be opened up and repositioned to line up perfectly with the new tub's drain assembly. That means cutting through existing tile, getting into the subfloor, and making sure the drain sits exactly where it needs to. No guessing. No shortcuts. The drain location on a freestanding tub is fixed, so the rough-in has to be precise.

We also opened up the wall to run and connect the drain line properly. That's the unglamorous part of the job - the stuff that gets closed back up and never seen again. But it matters more than most people think. A sloppy connection behind the wall is how you end up with leaks showing up in the ceiling of the room below months later. Getting it right the first time is always the move.

Once the rough-in is solid and the drain assembly is properly set, the tub drops into place and everything just works. The wall-mount faucet lines up, the drain sits flush, and the floor tile reads clean around the base of the tub. That's the payoff for doing the detail work correctly from the start.

Whether you're planning a full bathroom upgrade or just swapping out a tub, the plumbing underneath is what determines how well everything holds up long-term. We handle it all - from the drain rough-in to the finished install - so you don't have to worry about what's hiding behind the walls.
