Water Service Line Replacement Using Poly SDR-11 Pipe

When a water service line starts failing, it's not the kind of problem you can ignore. Low pressure, unexplained wet spots in the yard, or a meter that won't stop spinning - these are all signs that the pipe running from the meter to your building may be at the end of its life. That's exactly what we were dealing with here.

We pulled out the old line and replaced it with Poly SDR-11 pipe, running it all the way from the meter to the building. SDR-11 is a high-density polyethylene pipe that's built to handle the pressure demands of a residential water service. It's flexible, corrosion-resistant, and designed to last. Not all pipe is created equal, and this is the material we trust for a solid underground connection.

The job involved trenching down a hillside slope - not the easiest terrain to work with. Rocky soil, a steep grade, and working around existing structures all add complexity to a water service replacement. We cut through concrete at the meter end, made the connection, and backfilled the trench once the new line was set and tested. The concrete was poured fresh at the street - you can see it still curing cleanly against the existing sidewalk.

Once the trench was backfilled and compacted along the slope, the site was cleaned up and left in good shape. The new line is in the ground, the connection is solid, and the building has a reliable water supply running through quality pipe that won't need attention again for a long time. That's the goal on every water service replacement we do.

Underground plumbing work like this doesn't get a lot of visibility once it's done - which is kind of the point. But getting it right matters more than almost anything else in a building's plumbing system.
